About the project
STEAMSPARK brings together European partners to promote an innovative approach to STEAM education by integrating computer science and sustainability into everyday classroom practice. The project focuses on empowering teachers with practical tools, methodologies and training to address real-world environmental and societal challenges aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
By combining digital skills and green awareness, STEAMSPARK aims to prepare students to become responsible, digitally savvy, creative and solution-oriented citizens.

The main objectives of STEAMSPARK are:
To enhance the capacity of upper primary and secondary schools to integrate computer science concepts into a cross-curricular STEAM framework.
To connect coding and digital skills development with sustainability education and the SDGs.
To analyse the current state of teaching coding and sustainability in partner countries.
To develop, test and disseminate innovative teaching methodologies and educational resources.
To foster students’ interest and engagement in STEAM subjects.
To establish a European Community of Practice for teachers.
Project results
STEAMSPARK will develop five interconnected results combining research, teacher training, collaboration and practical resources for schools.
National Analysis Reports
Analysis reports on the current situation regarding how computer science and sustainability are taught in schools in Ireland, Italy, Spain and Portugal.
Innovative Pedagogical Framework
An innovative pedagogical framework combining learning theories and evidence-based practices to guide the project’s STEAM methodology.
Teacher Training MOOC
A MOOC for teachers with synchronous sessions, forming part of the pilot and generating a structured methodology with teaching modules on computer science and the Sustainable Development Goals.
European Community of Practice
The European STEAMSPARK Community of Practice, where teachers from different countries can collaborate, share resources and improve their teaching practices.
Transferable STEAM Methodologies
Adapted and transferable STEAM methodologies and resources designed to integrate programming and sustainability across the school curriculum.
